Issues on changing Belarusian money: where and how much Belarusian rubles one should buy, buying value of Belarusian rubles, plastic card use in Belarus. In what currency do I pay for services or goods in Belarus?
The only official currency for payments in Belarus is Belarusian rouble (since 01.2016 - BYN) that is accepted everywhere. However, payments in dollars or euro for apartments or travel services are not uncommon, particularly when a travel agency is licensed to accept foreign currency payments. These are major travel agencies and air ticketing offices.
Many of my guests staying for a couple of nights only use their cards as they travel through Belarus.
Please note, that some agencies like MSQ Airport Consulate charge in foreign currency (cash) only – in brand new bank notes (there is an ATM in the passports control zone). You can download the MSQ Minsk Airport visa fee list here.
